The cheapest rates tend to be found in low yield destinations like Manila and Berlin. It really varies from city to city. For instance, Berlin, although in western Europe has prices lower than much of eastern Europe, whilst in Munich, prices are considerably higher.

Of course, low yield destinations find it more difficult to operate high-end hotels, so you often get exactly what you pay for.

The Middle East is no longer cheap and neither is Asia. Gone are the days when you could secure the Presidential Suite in an Indian hotel and pay a couple of hundred dollars for the privilege. The standard of these hotels is exceptionally high - often much higher than hotels in the US or Europe, so you really do get what you pay for.
