Should be backwards compatible with USB 1.1 but the transfer speeds will be intolerable.

Plus the version of iTunes may not run great on your old Mac, if it's still supported.

May require 10.5 or 10.6 for instance, which may eliminate some old Macs with G4 or older processors.
