Bumping this up, since it's 18 months old.
I just wanted to check to see if anyone has had recent experiences with different PNR companions in preferred/Exit seats. If I select them online, will they still hold, or do I have to call? The only reason I ask is because before the companion upgrade request, none of the preferred seats showed up online, but now they do. TIA!
Just called today to get my non-elite companion an exit row seat next to me - these were award tix, with separate PNRs. No problem - agent just read me the standard exit row qualification questions which I answered on my companion's behalf. As expected, this is a phone-only transaction - can't be done on the web site.
