Thought I'd throw in an update for anyone that didn't catch the latest news...

Basically, the local governments (ie Bellingham and Whatcom county) have applied for and received a temporary restraining order around the Washington sale tax exemption for Canadian residents with HST. The local governments started to freak out after considering how this could impact their revenues.

The restraining order doesn't forbid WA state retailers from giving the exemption but they're at risk of having to be on the hook for the taxes themselves if the exemption is struck down. So, I'm not sure how many retailers would risk it, though apparently Target is.

The temporary restraining order is being reviewed this Friday, July 9. I'm hoping it gets quashed because I'm hoping to head across the border this Saturday.

Anyways, if you want to read more, check out this link or google it.
