I searched the DL thread and only found an old NW post about this so I want to double check with the DL regulars before purchasing the tickets.

For the date I'm looking at, the easiest way to get from HNL-BOS is on DL with a DL codeshare on Alaska metal on the second leg, but I don't get Alaska bennies such as an upgrade on AS metal when purchasing a DL PNR.

My question is: can I check my bag at the DL counter in HNL all the way to BOS even if I have two separate tickets, one on DL from HNL-PDX and the other on AS PDX-BOS. Layover in PDX is about an hour. I don't think I have time to re-check my bag in PDX.

Due to well documented (in the Alaska Forum) "computer" issues, when I purchase a DL PNR and fly AS metal I can't get upgraded, otherwise I would just buy a DL ticket straight through to BOS and ride on DL codeshare on the second leg.
