Difference with them is that you actually have to have the points in the account at the time of booking -- unfortunately, not so with Hyatt. Someone can reserve an award booking without having the required promotional nights under their belt or points.
This ought to be rectified by Hyatt Gold Passport immediately as it is a very bad way to treat your most loyal customers who have racked up points with you.
You can book Marriott reward res. with not enough points. You have until 7 days b/f check-in to get the points or they call you and you either work something out or they cancel the res.
