Before September 11, screeners were not instructed to steal myriad household items (non-weapons) from passengers. Accordingly, passengers were much less likely to abuse screeners because screeners weren't under orders to abuse passengers. The employment market determined that the job was worth very little $$.

Don't take personally my wish to see you unemployed, along with all your other overpaid TSA brethren, when the public realizes what a monumental waste this experiment in hassling Americans has become.
