Realistically, if the flight is some time out in the future, there's a good chance there will be schedule/equipment changes before the actual flight. I would check DL.com regularly to make sure you get the seat (and flight!) you asked for.
Thanks for the heads up on that possibility! Any suggestions or ideas on how far out they make those changes? Do they generally happen at the beginning of the month? I will be really bummed if I don't get the seats I wanted as that is the reason I booked early.
