Well, not easily. But it is now possible for a departing passenger to walk from T5B back to T5A unescorted, if you really have to and you know where you are going.
Personally, I don't find generally it confusing either. Like at all BAA airports, the signage is generally good, and your gate number tells you itself whether you need to go to T5B.
