Why do you think Amex pays Quidco £60? They pay them for introducing you as a customer - instead of paying £6000 for a magazine ad that brings them 100 new card holders, they decide to pay £60 to Quidco instead. It all comes out of the marketing budget.

If Amex can show that Quidco didn't introduce you to the product - because you have already been sniffing around the Amex website - then why should they pay? To be honest, if I was Amex, I wouldn't pay out to existing cardholders at all!

Another example. If you do a search on a price comparison website for insurance, and then use Quidco to visit the cheapest insurer, your cashback will be declined and the insurer will instead pay the price comparison website. This happens EVEN IF YOU DON'T CLICK THROUGH from the comparison website, as the cookie on your PC from comparethemarket etc is recognised and seen as earlier than the Quidco one. This is also why you should always use a fake address and name on a comparison website if you plan to use Quidco later, as the details are passed to each insurer for whom a price is shown. This is all documented on Quidco if you dig deep enough.
