reply to your question in the title, I would say yes it happened in BA history.
About your flight, just sit back and relax. There's no point to worry it will be out of your control anyway.
If they cancel then it happened and you have to sort it out on the day if not canceled you will have a nice flight. Any research or any worrying doesn't provide different output.
