IC Cologne 30 June 2010

What is your PriorityClub Status?
RA.

Did you receive a welcome gift ?
Yes, a mug form the Cologne cathedral collection - it was in the room when we arrived. There was also a plate of four cherries, 4 cathedral chocolates and a tiny slice of fruit tart.

Were you happy with your stay?
Yes, very happy indeed.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a club standard, received a suite (room 702) with a small sitting room, a reasonable bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms. Reasonable view of the cathedral too.

How are the rooms?
They feel a little dated but I presume that they are not that old; however, they are perfectly fine, functional and comfortable and feel spacious.

How is the IC Club Lounge?
The fridges were open for you to serve yourself drinks at all times. There were a couple of computers, a meeting table and lots of tables to sit at. Breakfast was a little on the modest side, though there was a lovely, charming associate in attendance who went and brought me some scrambled eggs. The breads and croissants were excellent. Evening snacks were also rather sparse, but again, an excellent associate in attendance. There was some soup and some very, very light bites. It would be difficult to fill up on whatever was there, however, they were serving snacks until 21.30, so, a good long time.

What was good/bad?
Good:-
- Excellent staff all round.
- Excellent concierge who went out of his way to help us; indeed, all members of the concierge team were brilliant.
- Late check out was offered continually to us, even though we did not need it.

Bad:-
- No sparkling wine in the minibar

Value for Money:-
Room only was Eur 242; I have no idea how that compares with the rest of the city, however, without knowing what the club standard room that I had booked and paid for is like, and with the strength of the Euro, it feels perhaps a little on the pricey side for someone calculating costs in GB pounds sterling, however, I have nothing to compare it to.

Would you return?
Yes, definitely.
