The only long term lot on the airport proper is Lot 3, which is located about half way between the US Air terminal and the east part of the main terminal--it's in front of the hangars. The rate is $24 for the first day and $10 per full day thereafter. There is no parking at all at LGA for $8 per day. You might be thinking of JFK long term parking which is still $8 per day.
I use this lot on a regular basis. Occasionally it's full, so I then either park in the main parking garage or the lot in front of US Air.
