A few weeks ago, called 1K line to get 1K Web support for my SO and I for MSY-LAX, w/ two vouchers. Thanks to the help of web support, was able to get both tickets on the same pnr (helpful for upgrades, or standby, if one traveler is 1K and one is not).
It can happen (two e certs combined), perhaps only when there are two travelers. Think it simplified the process for web support - which went relatively quickly, 15 - 20 minutes as opposed to another time when it took over 1/2 hour, had to send screen shots, etc.
