There is a helicopter transit route across central London that roughly follows the Thames. Holding points are above Blackfriars and London Bridge stations, which are used so that the helicopters can avoid coming into conflict with traffic arriving or departing London City

I do far more drinking in Borough Market than is good for me, and seeing a Chinook doing 3-4 laps of London Bridge station at a couple of hundred feet above is a great sight.
