Now - everyone's great advice have made me a bit obsessive and maybe a bit greedy - I think I will try to get Plat before the transatlantic trip. A few additional questions, if I am able to meet Plat by Nov 11, how long will it be before receiving VIPOW coupons? It would be really nice to use the upgrades to LHR.

krejcij & bikostl - As for Q points - just want to make sure I understand - 500 Q points minimum on every segment regardless of actual miles flown and discounted prices?

CFM3RD - thanks looked at your suggested itinerary - $388 USD for a total of 13,534M (6767Q). AA only allows 4 city pairs, any suggestions on adding SNA-LAX-MIA-LHR and back again?

christep - would love to go to HKG - but that run will have to wait till 2003. I have to find a travel partner first! My 2002 runs are not just for miles as I am actually visiting family and friends.
