Just to clarify, are you asking about Marriott Platinum upgrades or PP upgrades?

If PP status, one thing to note though is that comparing one aspect from an "ultra" high elite level from Marriott (i.e. PP which takes multiple years of 100's of nights per year) with another program's normal top level (i.e. SPG Plat with takes on 50 nights or 25 stays per year) isn't really comparing apples to apples. Also, note that suite upgrades are NOT specified as part of the Marriott elite benefits (this includes PP status.) Where SPG does specify suites as part of their program. So one should expect to find suite upgrades more often as part of the SPG program.

If just Plat status, note that I have been a Marriott Plat, probably all but 2 years out of the last 13 years. (I'm now a lifetime Plat.) I've been a Plat with SPG for only about 2 years. I would say that I have already received as many, if not more, suite upgrades at SPG properties than I have in my total Marriott lifetime of more than 1400 nights. But again, that is a functional difference between the two programs and not an unexpected experience.


Note that I voted based on your title saying Platinum. If you really meant that only PPs should respond, then you might want to change the title and remove my vote.
