There are shorts and their are shorts. Should you come on wearing a pair of swimming shorts or running shorts? Probably best not really, if even only so you don't look a bit of a plank. I wear shorts occasionally on flights...the knee length baggy numbers you can usually get away with on posh golf courses....very comfy they are too. Not inapporpriate in and around Dubai either.....
