I've only flown out of JFK in the evening to go home or onward connection to Europe so I don't know how crazy it is at Terminal 8/9 in the early hours. But as a F flyer, you should plan on being there about 1 hour ahead. 2 hours is overkill unless you are in cattle class going international with checked baggage.
