Not sure how you are planning to get to the airport... I usually take the LIRR from Penn Station and transfer to the AirTrain at Jamaica. In the evening this trip takes me almost exactly 1 hour door to door: Penn Station, through security and into the gate area. I allow 45 minutes for the train+air train.
