I think that the new yield/revenue management stuff they implemented a while back was sort of the death knell for Ding!
Since they're more efficient and sophisticated at selling seats, there's less of a need to offer $25 fares...no more Pavlovian response from me neither when my computer Dings. Ding! is more than likely well on its way to being a quaint relic, like using CD's to listen to music.
Hopefully, it doesn't continue on its path towards spyware status...selling EBCI and such. It could still be somewhat useful...it could do things like Ding! and say "Your boarding pass is ready, print it now?" or "You now have enough TTF's to book one of your frequent trips, schedule it now?"
