I live in Melbourne and DESPISE the taxi's here. They are just common crooks - all of them. I am not Aussie by birth and still have my native accent, many a time when I go to the airport or around town they go the must strange routes and when you question them then suddenly they apologise, or the meter isn't working.

Taking me home (live in South Eastern Suburbs) after a night in the city they go the most strange routes and when you confront them about it, they all claim to be new to Mel.

My personal favourite is when they try and get you to pay with a credit card - a sham I tell you.

I have never used the SkyBus - I should give it a go I suppose.
