Wrong (except if you meant you get 50%
MILES on domestic AC flights for cheap tix). You get 100%
MILES on AA and most other partner carrier flights on AAdvantage for discounted economy fares - the exceptions I can think of are QF (70%) and IB (0-30%). What you get 50% for discounted economy is
POINTS. Points go towards counting status and for status purpose only. Miles , like for AC
et al go towards determining your status as well as what awards you can get. So AA puts you on two tracks (actually 3) for status - Miles, points and segments (former 2 are identical except for how they are calculated).
