I have an email from Delta customer service that says Yes, transferred miles count as activity and will extend my expiration. I do not believe it tho and do not want to lose my limited miles. I will look into the dining recommendation, and then itunes, for a minimal expenditure. Thanks.

Just checked the dining. No results near our area code. So much for that.
