I don't understand what you mean by "best award fares."

SLC is my favorite ski destination airport in the U.S. because there are multiple resorts within a half-hour drive from the airport. That means you don't have to be locked into a particular resort, and can stay at less expensive lodging elsewhere. Also, as a DL hub, it's usually easy to get SLC.

Alta is my favorite SLC-area resort (the $34 lift ticket for the Albion, Sunnyside, and Cecret lifts is a steal), but Park City typically offers a "Quick Start" promotion where you can convert your inbound boarding pass into a same-day free lift ticket at Park City, Deer Valley, or The Canyons on the day you arrive.
