Thanks for the links, all. I suppose if you all trust the electronic system, I will go that route.
Just a guess, and mean no offense, but you must be an “old timer” (like I am…) to think that a hard-copy letter today is somehow going to get more attention (or be taken more seriously) than an email. A rather quaint notion, I’m afraid. Sigh.
No offense taken, though I don't think I could be called an "old timer" by any measure (I'm 23). The reason I prefer snail mail is because once upon a time, I had accumulated about 18,000 MQM in the 2 first two months on the job, all of which were set to reset to 0 come January 1st. I mailed them a letter stating that I didn't wish to think all of this flying had been for naught, and that I thought it was an arbitrary "clearance" date, considering that at the rate I was flying I would have been at over 100,000 MQM in a 12 month period. I told them that living in Atlanta allowed me to choose between many different and often cheaper airlines to my weekly destination, but that I always chose Delta because I valued their service, and would look upon it as a singular kindness if they reciprocated by granting me Silver Status for the following year, and sure enough, they did!
