Airport cut-off times - A Handy User Guide!

I know there have been recent discussions about people missing flights due to cut-off times and so on, so I figured it would be a good idea to compile a list of the main airport cutoff times that effect us. At least we can be well-educated FT’ers, that wont cause delays! Here goes...

Domestic U.S., including Puerto Rico and USVI
Passengers with bags to check are advised to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Cutoff time for checked-baggage acceptance at US airports is 30 minutes prior to departure.
Exceptions to this rule: DEN, JFK, LAS, MIA – 45 minutes.

Passengers with carry-on baggage only are advised to be at the airport at least 60 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Exception – ALL passengers departing STT, STX, HNL, OGG, KOA and LIH must be at the airport 2 hours prior to departure.

All passengers must be at the gate at least 15 minutes prior to departure, to avoid their reservation and seat assignment being cancelled. This is in the 'Customer Service Plan', available on www.aa.com.

International Travel, including to/from Canada
Passengers with bags to check are advised to be at the airport at least 120 minutes before scheduled departure time. Exception – AUA and PAP – 180 minutes.

Cutoff time for checked-baggage acceptance at all International airports is 45 minutes prior to departure.
Exceptions to this rule: Canadian cities – 30 minutes.

Passengers with carry-on baggage only are advised to be at the airport at least 120 minutes before scheduled departure time, to allow time for security and documentation checks.

All passengers must be at the gate at least 30 minutes prior to departure for International flights, to avoid their reservation and seat assignment being cancelled. This is also in the 'Customer Service Plan' on www.aa.com.

Ticketing
All tickets must be purchased a minimum of 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure, unless the fare rules allow otherwise. (APEX rules, etc.)

Pre-Reserved Seats
Pre-reserved seats can be released 30 minutes prior to departure. Note – This is seat assignments, not reservations. Don’t confuse it with the above gate reporting times!

Boarding Times
We should all know this one!
40 minutes for Widebodies (767, 777, A300) plus 757’s.
30 minutes for narrowbodies, except 757’s.

Finally, all passengers are required to be onboard 10 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.

So, there you go. There’s no excuse for us to be late now, is there?
