One very nice feature of the itn.net seat maps is that it distinguishes between "normal" and "premium" available seats (normal are blue, premium are green), so that non-elites actually can see ALL the seats that are available, including those that will show up as "occupied" on the aa.com seat maps.
Bear in mind, non-elites still won't be able to select premium coach seats in advance, but at least itn will give you an idea of how many (if any) premium seats are available so you know what seats to ask for at the airport.
