I don't doubt you're right, but I still wonder why airlines can't word their rules clearly.

This from aa.com:

"You must fly at least four segments on American Airlines and American Eagle"

Is it supposed to be obvious that they mean AA code and oneworld metal? Why not say something like "you must fly at least four segments operated by a oneworld carrier and ticketed under AA flight number"?
