Oh, let's give the union-bashing a rest. Competent management doesn't agree to contracts which they believe will destroy the company. Only incompetent management does. There's more than enough blame to go around for the whole industry, as if other industries don't also have their outrageous structural problems, ----and further, as if it mattered who we blame. It doesn't.
Telling people that they've been bad because they've gotten together and formed a union is like wishing the mountains weren't so high. Too bad, but that's part of the landscape, get used to it. Neither will be going away soon, and they both formed as an inevitable response to a lot of pushing. (And, no, I'm *not* in any way connected with the travel business).
