I hate to correct you on this... But... South West airlines, 7 weeks ago, LAS-SFO, bags checked in, our flight delayed but the earlier flight had seats available. They would not let us change to the earlier flight because we had bags checked in.
So, your theory about Brits being uptight, please, wind your neck in.
