There are seats on the 10th departing on sunday that would make the round trip 75000 miles per ticket. IF you try anything else it looks like 150,000 miles per ticket.
You can upgrade your coach tickets on the return but I see no avaliablity at this time for the outbound flights. Hope this helps you.
Very good point(s)/investigative work here...I'd amplify the potential issue of getting two F class tickets for the folks, as just about anytime to Hawaii can be tough for scoring freebie F seats. Since you're probably not at an elite level, and the tickets will be in your parents name, you get no help there, either.
So, plan ahead(which you're doing), and be persistent and flexible.
In thinking about the Hawaiian Airlines approach a bit, while I haven't flown them before, I -have- had them in mind for my next trip over the water.

I signed up for a FF account, get their email promos, etc., and have noticed that F class fares from the west coast seem to be very reasonable(and on sale often). So much so that it might be worth considering buying tickets for them(much easier to lock in, too) and maybe doing a points deal for the rest of you, back in the grunt section. Coach availability is usually mucho easier to get, too, so this could be a good way to manage it all.
