You weren't going to lose your miles; CO doesn't expire miles.

Is the kid an infant-in-arms or ticketed? Lots of couples like the back of Y where the 2 seats are as they are a bit more private and there is space between the window seat and the wall. Obviously this doesn't help if you have 3 tickets.
