This is not true. Most of these routes are run with ex-ATA 757's that Delta acquired second hand years ago. There are four of them and they almost exclusively run LAX/SLC-Hawaii. And they are generally referred to as junkers. With the exception of the ex-TW 757's, they are the only pre-merger Delta 757's with ETOPS.
Since the NW merger one or two Hawaii runs have been operated with ETOPS NW 757-200's that are in far better shape than the Delta -57's. Then there are the 757-300's that seem to be staying on NW legacy Hawaii routes.
