Well, to make it to HON you need 2 years with 150 international flights average in C. Or 2 years with about 400 flights average in Y.
I wouldn't directly go as far as calling that "easy".
I fly Y only and mostly international within Europe. I made SEN last year after around 90 flights due to 3 round trips to JNB (also Y). To me, this felt like a lot of flying (sometimes up to 6 or 7 flights a week). I realize that there are people that fly a lot more, but honestly, despite the fact that I like travelling, I am happy not to be one of those people (would be willing to exchange a substantial number of flights for intercontinantal flights though

).
Anyway, for short-haul flights I quite like LH myself. Although I never heard of "getting anything extra" (food). In fact, with LH you (mostly) know what you get, no surprises.
However, when I have the choice I prefer LX. In my opinion the food is better (in fact I mostly refuse the cookies in LH) and the service is more "personal". And when you like chocolate, then LX is your airline
