Hyatt Coconut Plantation - Bonita Springs REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
Finished a 3 night NBT stay at Coconut Plantation last week. This was our first vacation club stay and the last of the NBT award nights. We also had family staying at the HR Coconut Pointe across the street.
Pre-Arrival/Arrival - I called the night before to confirm early arrival as we were driving up from Naples Ritz Carlton early and wanted to have a room if available. They had already pre-booked us into a 2 bedroom that no one was occupying. Our original reservation was a 1 bedroom but we were informed that they were all sold out and so we'd be in a 2 bedroom the first night. Arrived around 10:30 am and check-in was processed quickly. I didn't want to have to move and inquired into what could be done but nothing was offered except that housekeeping would move all our stuff. Given a schedule of the trolley that operates between this property and the HR and the dock where you can catch the boat to the private island. Later that afternoon I noticed that the FD looked like a madhouse so glad we got in early.
Rooms - The rooms looked pretty modern. The Kitchen and bedroom looked like the pictures online. I thought the area was spacious and accommodating. The master bedroom had a king bed and an attached big bathroom - shower, double sink, jacuzzi. The other bedroom was double beds and a separate tub/shower bathroom. We overlooked the pools and a pond with wildlife in building 5.
Grounds - the area looked pretty well maintained. Arrival was via a windy road near the golf course. Plenty of parking everywhere. Looked like a LOT of families with pre-teens. Separate pools with rock waterfall features and a lazy river that was pretty good (liked it better than Lost Pines' river except when the bugs swarmed out at dusk).
Service - we noticed a slightly different service level than at other Hyatts but the amount of staff available was much lower and we hadn't stayed at a property with hundreds of kids either so I think that made a difference. Ate lunch one of the days and charged to the room but was never charged. We tried to get them to add it at checkout but they said we'd be charged if it showed up. The trolley ran on a schedule and was prompt on timing. Easy to visit both places or meet the boat for the ride over to the private island.
Whoever was going to stay in our 2 bedroom condo canceled on the morning of the second day so they kindly let us stay in the room the remainder of the time.
Checkout was quick. We left early so I'm not sure what, if anything, we would have been granted if we had tried to request a late checkout.
All in all I thought the place was pretty good for a family retreat or vacation. I wouldn't go out of my way for a stay but as we were already in Naples for a family vacation, I'm glad we added some time here and at the HR. The rooms in the building we were in seemed renovated and reminded us of a friend's condo in Tampa that we stayed at a few years ago.
