Not quite because if you are a dinosaur like me you can recall when you used to be able to reserve seats for free at booking time

Then as part of an "improvement" (no really, that's what they called it at the time) BA removed the facility to book seats entirely.

Then several years later, trumpeted it as an improvement when they reintroduced that same facility but with a charge.

Funny old world, eh?
