Please note that AA and AS miles are not combinable. Let say you have 10K AS miles and 15K AA miles. Even though both airlines have a 25K award you can only use the miles from one airline's frequent flyer program to book a ticket. IF you book through AA you can only use the miles in the AA account. If you book through AS you can only use the miles in the AS account. If your 5k short you cant grab the miles from the other airlines account
