Polish crash in Sochi? Are you referring to the recent weather and human factors (and not just cockpit crew) -related incident at Smolensk?

In any case, aircraft separation is pretty stringent, ATC is pretty rigorous - particularly in high-density areas like DFW - and it is hard to ignore a TCAS warning. We're well beyond the days when "IFR" meant "I Follow Roads".
