You may do this, and if you set it up right (have zero balance going into the statement where the year 2 fee is charged such that the only thing due on that statement is the $59), it is possible to have a short time window after which the 2 anniversary credits have posted yet still be able to cancel the card and not pay the 2nd year fee. Has worked twice for me.
