We don't care which is closer to shopping, etc. We just want the one that is going to have the best pool/beach/room combination. We are most into relaxing.

I guess I'm leaning towards the W because we don't have kids but we don't want anything too "loud" either. We stayed at the Diplomat 2 years ago for this exact week but it is $335+ now and that's a deal-breaker compared to these properties. I've also stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriott and loved it but it is way to expensive now.

Thoughts?
I recently stayed at both properties.

The W being new and the Westin being a refurb.

I was upgraded to a suite a both (see master threads). I have done detailed reviews but just upload clips of each room I was assigned.

Pools:
W pool is hipper but that plastic stair way is obtrusive. They have music blaring and a Sunday party. If you room is 5-7 stories above the pool it wont be peaceful.

Westin pool is not as well appointed as the W but the pool deck itself is larger and has direct access to the beach.

Beach:
The hotels are a block a part, same beach. The Beach in Ft. Lauderdale is laid back and less crowded than the areas south of the Diplomat, although not attached to the hotel property.

Rooms:
I like the room at the Westin Better but the balcony at the W. The Bathroom at the W was worn and beat up.

I guess I need to write those reviews now, huh?
