I just don't get it.
Obviously, there is the whole ongoing strike saga which most see as bad long-term for both staff and passengers. Striking against the efforts being made to save costs, reduce losses and keep the airline flying are in the opinion of many, pointless - but I don't want to get into a debate about the merits of the strike, but regardless, many crew are still voting to strike and many are actually striking (although less than those who vote to strike

).
We've also heard about how crew are controlling the temperature on LH so that it suits
them and they're comfortable when sitting by the door, even when the paying passenger asks them to reduce it.
We've heard stories of poor service in CE. Over an hour for the service to start (after ET have had their bird-seed).

(why can't we select a BBB flight in MMB?)
And some have related how they have been completely forgotten about in certain seats in CW.
We're also aware of certain enhancements that BA have tried to introduce to improve service and proposition (hot towel, anyone?) that have been refused by CC.
What exactly do the crew want?
Do they realise who they work for and who actually pays their wages (and I'm not talking about the HR & Payroll department at Waterside, I'm talking about us, the passenger). We hear time and time again about "what an honour it is to work for BA", and they're striking because "they want to preserve the service that passengers have come to expect" and that "they're embarrassed by the way that it's now cheese OR dessert" or that "the food and wine isn't as good as it was / should be", but the reality seems to be that the faceless many couldn't give a s*** about customer experience and BA is there to give them a cushy ride, free days off and extra cash in far-flung places away from the kids when 'down-route', discount travel for themselves and family, 'hotline' tickets, a pension fund etc. etc.
In my experience, crew that I actually meet on board are generally good, and I find it hard to reconcile that they are the ones voting to strike or playing silly games, such as above, but the strike support numbers do add up, so the crew who seem intent on destroying BA do exist.
Like most, I have supported BA as much as possible through these strike / snow / ash trials, but I am reaching the end. I think if I ever actually suffer reduced or poor service directly because of lazy crew or crew making a "point", I shall vote with my feet (or my backside, anyway).
Next week, I am taking my son to the World Cup

. He worked incredibly hard to pass his entrance exams to earn this prize, and he is looking forward to his first CW experience (more than the football, I think) and if our holiday gets off to a less than fantastic start because of the action (or inaction) of a crew member, I shall be less than pleased!
OK, rant over, but why are they going downhill so fast?
