Our trip will be Spring break 2011 (April 9-19 specifically although we can change dates a little) and I have lots of FF miles with AA thanks to my Starwood card and StarPoints from timeshares.

I see that Hawaiian Air does nonstops to Maui during the summer but it doesn't pull up as a nonstop for April. Maybe it's seasonal.

We will likely try to get 2 first class tix for the parents with AA miles and hope to have the rest of us (2 kids, 2 adults) on paid tix or some combo thereof.

Thank you,

Katherine
The answer now is much more easier for you. SAN-LAX-OGG the lax to ogg on a 757 nothing to get excited about. The outbound has 2 seats avaliable at 75000 miles the anytime award and the return has 3 seats on the milesaver award which is 37500. Total miles needed per ticket 112,500. There are seats on the 10th departing on sunday that would make the round trip 75000 miles per ticket. IF you try anything else it looks like 150,000 miles per ticket.
You can upgrade your coach tickets on the return but I see no avaliablity at this time for the outbound flights. Hope this helps you.
