The email notifications are generally 6-12 hours behind when the actual upgrade comes through, sometimes as long as 24 hours behind.

If you're going to check for your upgrades at the 6-day window then why worry about the emails?

The bigger is that most upgrades lately have been assigned to no seat so you have to login and select the seat you want.
