It makes the thread a lot easier when you ask your real question (which airline/routing is best for my elderly parents) rather than some other question (Most comfortable 1st class plane to OGG?)
I would still say that HA is a nice option that would make them feel that the start to their Hawaiian experience was boarding rather than arrival. 25 years is a long time.
AS also has a nice island flair with their A/C. I personally can't directly compare them since I haven't flown HA since 2001, and that was in Y on a DC10 ex-ANC. But boarding commences with Hawaiian music playing, FA's wearing their 'Aloha' uniforms, fresh plumeria petals in the lav's, service with an island flair (mai tai, POG, pineapple juice, and my favorite- Johnny Love Aloha Vodka), meals are great too with 2 island choices.

But decent hard First product?? Even AA 757 seats are more comfortable. AS food is generally mediocre and nowhere near AA quality. Then there is the constant (FA encouraged) flow of Y pax to the F lav.

And to say AS' food is mediocre... they do have good food on at least the transcons, and is improving IMO. So to say AS has a poor hard product would be a characterization IMO, not the greatest, but decent. And the A/C type does help as the 734 seats are worn a bit and are best avoided. I will agree that there tend to be more Y pax using the F lav then F.
