Another perk is an added sense of entitlement, or for some people - satisfaction.
A couple of years ago I was in the elevator going to the YYZ domestic MLL. I had my BP and SE card in hand. A newly minted Elite was in the elvator. He was so excited. It was going to be his first time in a lounge and he was telling me how he was so excited to be Elite. I congratulated him on reaching his status, wished him well, told him that flying with status is way better than flying without, and said that I hoped he enjoyed his time in the lounge and the extra perks he would get. He then noticed my black card and asked what it was. I told him is was Super Elite. He was very interested and asked what was needed to get it. I responded 100k or 95 segments; his jaw dropped and all he said was "wow... thats a lot." That was the end of our conversation, for some reason I felt special afterwards.
