I, too, have had problems in the past with Hertz over frequent flyer points. In fairness I must say that Hertz has always done right by me in the end. I think Hertz is ok, but it is not my favorite of the big three. The reason Hertz has been getting the bulk of my leisure rentals over the last few years is because of their advantageous relationship with the frequent flyer program of my favorite airline. So, yes, the frequent flyer credits are important.
