Dixons must charge VAT on sales to passengers travelling within the EU. BAAs intention is that they should sell the product at the same price to the consumer as if the VAT was not charged, but they must still charge the VAT. Dixons appear to be ignoring this in the case of the iPad.

Dixons are not immune to alternative invoicing - that's a euphemism for something much worse. Travelling once LHR-FRA (VAT should be charged), my Dixons receipt showed LHR-ORD (VAT needn't have been charged).
