Cradepoint Wireless Routers
Check out the portable Cradlepoint wireless routers. You can "tether" your Blackberry to the little cradlepoint router via USB, and then it shares the internet connection of the Blackberry via WiFi.
I believe this would permit you to circumvent issue of not being able to use VZW manager for a laptop connection (and really, who wants to use VZW manager anyway... it's just one more way to extort more out of your pocket.)
If I am not mistaken, when using a device like a cradlepoint router, the network "thinks" all the data is being consumed by the phone, and has no idea it is really being used as a wireless modem by a computer.
Obviously, I would exercise some caution in the amount of bandwidth you use, as burning through 3-4GB on what is supposed to be a phone only connection might be a little tough to justify.
Hope that helps,
