Then it's changed a lot since I was in (which I guess makes sense - it wasn't yesterday). When I was in, leave paperwork was travel orders only to the point of entry. Once you got to the point of entry, you were on your own, and could go anywhere you wanted to (on your own dime, of course) or just stay there. The travel past the point of entry was not on travel orders. You are saying that it is different now? For a lower ranking enlisted man?
